About

Chenuka Caldera is a Sri Lankan motorcycle racer who began competitive racing at just 8 years old and has since progressed through multiple racing categories, from 125cc and 160cc machinery to 250cc, 500cc and 1000cc superbikes.

His career has been defined by a willingness to compete against riders with significantly more experience and to continuously move into faster and more challenging categories.

🏆 Youngest-Ever Sri Lankan 1000cc Grand Prix Winner

At just 14 years old, Chenuka became the youngest-ever Sri Lankan rider to win a 1000cc Grand Prix, competing against experienced riders on a BMW M 1000 RR.

The achievement marked one of the most significant milestones of his young racing career and demonstrated his ability to compete at the highest level of Sri Lankan superbike racing despite his age.

🏅 1000cc Best Rider Award – 2025

Chenuka was recognised with the 1000cc Best Rider Award for 2025, following a highly competitive season in the premier superbike category.

🌏 Taking Sri Lanka to the International Stage

Chenuka has already stepped beyond Sri Lankan competition, gaining international racing experience in Thailand and Malaysia.

He competed at Bira International Circuit, Thailand, in the Dainese Supersport 500cc Championship, organised by Superbike Magazine in collaboration with Pirelli.

His international campaign resulted in a podium finish, making him the first Sri Lankan race podium finisher in a motorcycle racing class above 250cc.

He has also participated in the Asia Talent Cup Selection Event at Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia, competing for a place within one of Asia’s premier young-rider development pathways.

🇪🇺 Moto4 European Cup Selection

Chenuka was selected for the Moto4 European Cup, representing an important recognition of his potential as an emerging international rider.

Although participation was ultimately prevented by financial limitations, the selection itself represented a significant milestone in his progression toward international motorcycle racing.

🏍️ Experience Across Multiple Categories

Chenuka’s ability to adapt between different motorcycles has become one of the defining characteristics of his racing career.

His experience includes:

* BMW M 1000 RR – 1000cc Superbike
* Yamaha YZF-R3 – Supersport 500cc
* Kawasaki ZX-25R – 250cc
* Honda 250cc machinery
* Honda CBR150R
* KTM RC125
* Junior and mini-bike racing

Moving between these categories has required him to adapt to significant differences in power, braking, chassis behaviour, tyre characteristics and riding techniques.

🏎️ Competitive Karting Background

Chenuka’s competitive experience extends beyond motorcycles.

He is also a multiple endurance karting podium finisher, with achievements including:

* 6-hour endurance karting podiums
* 12-hour endurance karting podiums
* 3-hour Sodi Karting Endurance podium
* Best Driver Award – Port City Karting

Karting has contributed to his development in racecraft, consistency, overtaking, traffic management, endurance and race strategy.

🇱🇰 THE JOURNEY CONTINUES

From beginning competitive racing at eight years old to becoming Sri Lanka’s youngest-ever 1000cc Grand Prix winner at 14, Chenuka Caldera’s career has been built around one principle: always move forward.

His journey has already taken him from local circuits to Thailand and Malaysia, from junior machinery to a BMW M 1000 RR, and from national competition to international selection events.

But these achievements are only the beginning.

Chenuka’s ambition is to continue carrying the Sri Lankan flag onto international circuits, compete against the strongest young riders in Asia and Europe, and ultimately build a pathway toward the MotoGP World Championship.

A young rider. A growing legacy. One flag. 🇱🇰
